{Juan Mayer & Shoes}

This past week was legend-ary! Well I'm probably over exagerating, but it was a pretty good week. On Tuesday Eric and I went to the John Mayer Concert. I must confess, I have a bit of a crush on John. I know he is kind of a jerk in real life---not I really know him, but some of the things in the media make him seem like he would be---anyway, I am just in love with his music. Every morning on my way to work I generally listen to him, and he just puts me in a good mood :) Lucky for me it's dark outside when I leave and I can blast it and do some great car-dancing moves without worrying about strange looks from people at stop lights.

To start out the night, Eric and I went to Jimmy John's for some dinner. I love this place---it' SO good. >>Just a side note, there is a JJ really close to our house, but they only deliver to 1st Avenue! We live on 6th Ave, bummer. It's probably a good thing though, otherwise I'm sure we'd be eating it like twice a week or more.

(I'm so proud of myself for figuring out how to make these little collage thingies. I probably will overuse them for a while, but they're just so cool)

The concert was at Usana. I told Eric I was going to blog about this (hence my picture taking, I'm just trying to get better) so he was doing some kind of 'model pose' in these pictures of us. I don't know what this weird smile is, but we probably took like 6 pictures of us and he did this little smirk in all of them. What a weirdo :)

Finally!! A normal smile!

Owl City was opening for Johnnie-Cakes Mayer and during their performance Eric and I were playing fashion police. *more on this in a bit

Then it was John. Ah! It was so fantastic! He is so great live and I really enjoyed his little conversation in between songs. He played Slow Dancing in a Burning Room, which is definitely one of my top five favorite songs and it was amazing. This is a break up song, and it was really funny watching people really 'slow dancing' to it.

He also played Heart of Life. Every time I hear this song it makes me tear up!

So...Fashion Police. During Owl City Eric and I were having a great time people-watching and 'Tim Gunn-ing' (aka 'commenting') on some weird clothing choices. *Side note>> E and I love to watch Project Runway, hence the Tim Gunn reference. It's a very addicting show, I'm sure there will be more post on it later>> When John Mayer came out, we just kept thinking WHAT IS HE WEARING?! He had some flood pants on and a weird wind-breaker jacket. One of those ones that you see in an LL Bean Catelog on some grey-haired man that likes to fish. Anyway...I'm SO happy he brought it up in between one of his songs. He says 'this is not the fashion of a guy in a relationship. Obviously I dressed myself and I have no taste.' It was a great intro to his song Perfectly Lonely, which is about being alone. :) And it definitely gave his outfit some justification.

Our seats at Usana were on the grass so we brought one of our minky blankets and got there pretty early to get a good spot. We sat down and thought we had a pretty great view....then the people in front of us decided to have a party ON OUR BLANKET! It was making Eric really mad, so I took some pictures :) I think I have some curse in that where ever I sit at an event and isle is ALWAYS right in front of me. We started just putting our legs out to kind of block the way, but generally people just jumped or kicked us. The little party the kids were having on our blanket was pretty funny. People were actually straddling Eric's legs to be part of 'the circle'. (Why do people form circles? It's kind of a funny thing to think about) This one girl in particular was almost digging her shoes into the blanket. She had awful shoes. I'm sorry if you have shoes like this, I bet they just looked funny on her feet. Very Carol Brady. *Please notice Eric's legs, as he refused to move them at all*

Speaking of shoes......
AHH!!!!! Shape-ups shoes!! The past week at my yob I saw this lady who was wearing this great 'faux exercise' shoe....but took it to another level. She had on the shoe with some tights and a dress. Tennis shoes dress up--it was great. It really made me laugh :) I hope someday I see someone where these to work, or to church. It would really make my life.

AquaMan called...he wants his look back!
I probably should have prefaced this post by telling you I'm probably the worst person to critique any fashion. I have an afinity for cardigans and skirts these days and wish I could own everything from Anthropologie/DownEast/JCrew. And I pretty much I only wear flats and flip flops. So footwear is a mystery to me :)
More to come. xoxo

  1. Shape ups are terrible but those finger/toes shoes are RIDICULOUS! I am honestly creeped out by them. I'm glad you had fun at John Mayer..I hope it was worth getting no sleep and having to work at 6am the next day :]
